house of usher

This story is kind of creepy.Because it nearly had me brooding. The story goes on about this "house", known as Usher. The Usher House had descendants further than the eye can see, but that all end when the last two descendants, a brother and sister, haven't wed.the literal house itself is like the family that lived in it: breaking and dying. both the narrator and Usher spend the time talking about how Usher's and his sister's malady will stop them from being alive and the sister dies supposedly from kind of miasma. They bury the sister's cadaverously lain body in their house, and the sister comes out nowhere after interment, and kill her brother. in my feeling this reminds me of a horror story, scary. At the end, everything ends up falling apart. The phantasmagorical imagination of this author is amazing.

The Tell-Tale Heart

I think that this was a very good story because it had always kept me on the edge of my seat when I was reading it. It was good because it had a lot of suspense leading up to when the butler had cracked under pressure. I don't know any other book or movie like it.

Hop Frog

This story is a revenge film because Hop Frog, realizes what the king is doing to him and his friends and he pulls a prank to get back at him. The narrator criticized the character's issues and what is wrong with him. My favorite quote from the story was when Hop Frog said; I am Hop Frog, the jester, and this is my last jest." This was a very strong quote because he is saying that he is done with all the things he took from the king.

Message found in a bottle

The story we read today was an interesting epic about a sailor who has gone on the ride of his life. In the story, the sailor goes through many dangerous events. from maelstroms and raging winds to ghost ships and endless seas, the sailor sees it all. The amount of dangers he encounters are almost dreamlike. It is very unbelievable to the reader to see what he goes through. The reader is so entertained and in disbelief of the sailor's encounters. "Almighty God! See! See!"

Ms.Found in a bottle

Describe the disasters recounted in the story. Why is the device of reading a message in a bottle popular? Why is this message successful in keeping the reader's interest? Add your favorite quote.

the disasters are recounted when the ship that the narrator is riding on is swept by a whirlpool. After the disaster, only two people including the narrator are survived. The device of reading a message in a bottle is well-known because it looks mysterious and clandestine. It is commonly used in movie or novel. The message is successful in keeping the reader's interest because people's curiosity is aroused by it's magical image. My favorite quote is "The circles rapidly grow small - we are plunging madly within the grasp of the whirlpool - and amid a roaring, and bellowing, and thundering of ocean and tempest, the ship is quivering - oh God! - and going down!" because it represents sense of terror of the narrator well. In my opinion, this story represents the author's misfortune and desperate life which is formed irrelevantly to his will.

MS. Found in a Bottle

Some of the disasters that are encountered during this story are when the crew and the ship are sucked into the whirlpool and only two survive the fatal disaster. The message in a bottle is a very popular device because it is mysterious and people who find it later on can find it. The message keeps the readers interest because any one at any time could find the bottle and read the message. My favorite quote is, "Almighty God! See! See!". I enjoy this quote because it shows the happiness and hope in the crew.

MS. Found In A Bottle

This story is about a sailor and his crew on a trip in the ocean that has been going on for an unfathomable amount of time. I can't even begin to imagine the monotony that begins with a sail around the world. The crew has been sailing since the year 18, which is one lousy way, in my opinion, to beguile and just sail around with water. After one of their usual days, they end up in a whirlpool and start to face the tempest at hand. They then survive and keep sailing after surviving. One of the many reasons why people find reading messages from a bottle ascertained is that no one really knows where or who it came from. One of the reasons why the message is very interesting is that you get to know the person that wrote it and that you find out what they have gone through and, usually, why they wrote the message in the first place. Overall, this story was very prolonged in my opinion, mainly because it kept on describing the same thing over and over again, but it kept my interest because of the manuscript found. So, in short, it was good.

"Although completely water-logged, yet, as her masts had gone by the board, she rose, after a minute, heavily from the sea, and staggering awhile beneath the immense pressure of the tempest, finally righted."

I chose this quote because one of my favorite parts of reading any story is reading and finding the reactions of the characters in what may be the most troublesome situation they face in their lifetime. This quote shows they emotion and the description of the main character when he and his crew face the whirlpool.

Ms Found In A Bottle

The disaster of a ship comes from a tempest which causes the ship to sink. There ends up to only be two survivors. The story keeps the interest of the reader due to its ability to make the reader what's going to happen next and what events are forthcoming. This is made evident in this quote " Almighty God! See! See!" When the survivors are happy to see a ship which makes the reader wonder what is in stores for the survivors.

Ms. found in a bottle

Ms. found in a bottle is a disaster story because every where he goes nature is out to get him. Natural disasters follow him every where and eventually The narrator (One of the men on the boat) crashes the boat in a tempest of Chaos. They then find another abandoned desolate boat and sail off with it. At the end a cataract rushes in and makes a whirlpool and kills all of the sailors. A message in a bottle is a popular because it was an easy way to leave a message for someone to find if you know the end of your life was near out at sea. The readers ponder on what the message says and want to unveil what the message has written on it. "Oh, Horror upon Horror!" I like this quote because it describes what is going on in the mind of the narrator.

MS. Found in a Bottle

He almost dies because the ship is driving south. the ship is hit by a Simoon, which is a combination of a sand storm, typhoon, and hurricane. this caused a breach.  Then the ship collides with a giant galleon. Then he steals stuff to write with when he gets aboard and uses it to keep a journal (manuscript). He lets it out into the sea. it is popular because it is being sent out for someone to read. It keeps you interested because you keep thinking when or what is it.

Message in a Bottle

The story begins with how the people are on a boat, and how the narrator specifically tells the sailor not to sail during the storm, and he disregards his rules and he sails anyway, so that ship gets pulled into a whirlpool, all the survivors survived, so they got on another ship, and started on their way. The narrator told them again not too sail, and they did it anyway. Again there ship got pulled into a whirlpool. So the narrator left him a message in a bottle with the message.

Ms. Found in a Bottle

The disaster in this story is when the ship is caught in a whirlpool and is destroyed. There were only two people that survived the entire wreck. The message that was sent out in a bottle was very popular because who ever read it could get to know the writer even though they had never met each other. It seems to me that whoever wrote the letter had a very solemn thought to it. My favorite quotation in this novel is "The ship and all in it are imbued with the spirit of Eld."

message in a bottle

In the story, there were a couple of great disasters. the ship and its crew members enter a terrible TEMPEST. Later on the ship is later then hit and destroyed by a whirlpool leaving only 2 survivors. The ship was expected to CRANK. The device of putting a note inside a bottle is very popular because people who write it know one day someone is going to find it and read what they wrote. In the story the survivors PROCURE the bottle making it very mysterious. This message is successful in keeping the readers interested because it makes people follow along in whats going on in the story. When someone finds one of these messages, it tells them what people were going through in their time.

"oh, Horror upon Horror" is my favorite quote because it describes exactly what the survivors were going through.

House of Ussher

The story is about is explained in a dark and mysterious place, to try and change the mood, the music begins to play. the end of the story is all about how Usher dies, and how the house beings to fall apart. so the story beings to fall apart and how the brother and the sister die, and how they loose there house.

Ms. Found in a Bottle

In this short story, MS. Found in a Bottle, written by the notorious Edgar Allen Poe, there is much disaster and tragedy. The first catastrophe that occurred in the story is when the ship that crank due to instability was sucked into a whirlpool. The ship resurfaced in pieces, the only two survivors being the narrator and a man referred to as the Swede. They survive for five days floating on the debris of the ship, and on the fifth night, another storm strikes. Out of the storm comes a 20 ton ship that somehow the narrator finds himself on. Due to the fact that nobody on the ship can see the narrator I assume he died and returned as a ghost, another disaster. The theme of a message in a bottle is so popular because of the sublime mystery it entails. It always brings a surprise to a normal situation. This message keeps the readers interest because it has almost a science fictional theme to it. It is not as scary as most of Poe's stories however it has a unique fantastical appeal to it. My favorite quote in this story is, "It is long since I trod the deck of this terrible ship, and the rays of my destiny are, I think, gathering into a focus." This quote has a wonderful poetic feel to it and is a tad horrifying to think of this ominous ship.

Ms. Found In A Bottle

This piece of literature tells of an unknown man who was on a ship. He received an apprehension of an incoming whirlpool, however the captain did not listen. The ship began to move athwart as it began to be sucked under. The narrator and an old Swedish man survived. They were floating on peaces of the ship. Night fall came and the ocean became desolate. Soon, robust winds began blowing and another hurricane came. They saw a black ship in the distance. They went onto the black ship and no one paid attention to them. " But little time will be left me to ponder upon my destiny!" I liked this quote because it represents the way he thought about his life throughout the story.

"Ms. Found in a bottle"

In this book we see the disaster of a ship becoming overtaken by a giant whirlpool in the middle of the ocean. If i was in this situation i would be very tremulous. Putting a note in a bottle is popular i believe because it makes the people who send it feel like they can send what ever they want. They can express their feelings in anyway which they feel led to. This message has to be expressed to the reader because the book is based upon it. "But little time will be left me to ponder upon my destiny."

Hop-Frog

Hop frog is a revenge story because after the king disrespected hop frog and trippeta, Hop frog wanted his revenge on the king and to ruin him."Drink I say!" when the King was using hop frog as his own personal clown and didn't even consider how hop frog or trippeta felt. It reminds me of the seven years war because the Indians wanted their land back after the white settlers had stole it from them

message in a bottle

The disaster in this story consisted of the ship being hit and destroyed. When this happened, there were only two survivors for the time being. The device that the author used was that he kept the reader guessing and it the edge of his seat. The message keeps the reader interested because it keeps him guessing. "And thundering of ocean and TEMPEST, the ship is quivering- oh god!- and going down!

MS found in a bottle

The story "MS Found In a Bottle", is in my mind one of Edgar A. Poe's more peculiar stories. It follows the narrator who is a seaman as his ship is destroyed leaving him with only one option, to climb aboard a near by older ship. Once aboard the narrator sails into a whirlpool with the rest of the crew and they are killed. This is one of Poe's more far fetched stories it has a tone sullen through out. As it describes the gloomy atmosphere.

Fall of the House of Usher

The house in the story is described as very dark and mysterious. The house is breaking apart, and once in a while in order to lighten the mood they play music. Usher's sister dies but somehow comes back to life. Everyone knows that Usher is the last generation and they know that if he dies the whole house will fall into pieces, and that's exactly what happens, The house breaks apart and falls.I really liked the story but i did't feel this way until the end. It was really hard to follow but at the end everything made more sense.

Ms. Found in a Bottle

The narrator is burdened with being in a whirlpool after telling his captain not to sail (didn't listen). The narrator then finds himself on board of a ship that can't really see him so before this ship is in a tempest he decides to take the captains manuscript and put it in a bottle. This system of a message in a bottle is popular because that is the only a person is able to communicate when stranded someplace. My favorite quote is "However the captain said he could not perceive any reason of danger" because this is the crucial part in the short story where the captain risks his men's lives.

Tell Tale Heart

I liked the story i thought it a good story. What i liked about it the most was how the writer, Edgar Allan Poe, uses words that I've never heard of to express something as simple as this story.Yes i think sponge bob and the Simpsons did a remake of it.

MS. Found in a Bottle

The book started off with a simoon as the first disaster which caused a breach and apprehended them sending them to the North Pole. It was a presentiment of what their ascertain future would be with this hurricane, typhoon, and trifling sandstorm inevitably all in one. Then there was the horrific disaster of the unfathomable black galleon that was a great impediment. This was an awful disaster causing the narrator to reach the ship with unabated effort. The cessation of the disasters was seen at the end with the whirlpool that has sunk the sea. The device of a message in a bottle is popular due to the mystery of the origin and the true meaning since no one can intend to right it for a direct person. This message is successful since you are always thinking of what is in the bottle and you want to know the full of it. My Favorite Quote was: "It is evident that we are hurrying onwards to some exciting knowledge—some never-to-be-imparted secret, whose attainment is destruction."

The Fall of the house of Usher

The house in the story was explained as a dark and mysterious place. To try and change the mood of the story music begins to play, songs are being sung, and stories are being told. Eventually Ushers sister dies and she comes back. Usher eventually dies with the house falling to pieces. The story kind of confused me because it was so crazy. The book seemed as if it could become a movie or a short T.V. story.

Hop frog

Hop Frog is a joyful and mean story at the same time. I thought in the begining of the book the mood feels happy and joyful. I really like the twist in the middle of the book because it completely changes the mood when he relies that the king is using him and  he hurts his friend and then plans to kill the king. Hop Frog is about a king and a man that he likes to make fun of. Hop frog is the name of the man the king makes him Drink because the king thinks he is funny when he is drunk. The king is basically taking advantage of Hop Frog and making him look like a fool. When hop frogs friend tries to defend him from the king the king gets angry and pushes her and knocks her down. Hop Frog then plans to kill the king and does. My favorite quote is "As for myself, i am simply Hop-Frog the jester and this is my last jest." He really makes his point in this one quote that he said. He is saying that he is done with people taking advantage of him and making himself look like a fool and how he is done making jokes.

The fall of the house of Usher

Describe the house in the story. How do the narrator and Usher spend their time? What happened to Usher's sister? What happened to the house? Include a quote about your favorite part.

The narrator starts the story with heading to his old friend. The narrator describes his house looks gloomy, dark, secret, and like the ghost house. The narrator and Usher spend their time with playing guitar, singing songs, and reading the books. Usher's sister, Madeline, is died because of mysterious disease, so Usher and the narrator bury her in the underground tomb. His sister appears again in front of his house and Usher died because he is so frightened to see her. The narrator escapes from his house. After all, House of Usher is collapsed into the ground. My favorite quote is "there was a long tumultuous shouting sound like the voice of a thousand waters - and the deep and dank tarn at my feet closed sullenly and silently over the fragments of the "House of Usher". I like that this story has refreshing and shocking ending that House of Usher is destroyed and gone.

Hop Frog

Hop Frog is a revenge story. There is king and ministers who likes to joke around and make fun of others. Hop frog is a man that king likes to make fun of. The king makes Hop Frog to drink because king thinks it will be funny to watch Hop Frog when he is drunk. When his friend Trippetta tried to defend on behalf of Hop Frog, the king knocks her down. Hop Frog then plots of vengeance to kill the king and his ministers. Characters are criticized by the narrator because he told about their problems and bad habits. My Favorite quote is "As for my self, i am simply Hop Frog the jester- and this is my last jest" which means that he will never be fool for anyone.

The Tell Tale Heart.

The Tell Tale Heart was a great story, because it made me interesting and it was profound. The author of the Tell Tale Heart wrote as if he was the mad man. It created great suspense step by step. The character showed how the man's crime affected himself and made the man to confess the whole thing that he committed to the police. I can't think of any other the story like this intelligent story for it had a different feeling unlike other horror stories.

Describe the house in the story. How do the narrator and Usher spend their time? What happened to Usher's sister? What happened to the house? Include a quote about your favorite part.

The Narrator visits an old friend's desolate house. The friend is named Roderick Usher and he is suffering from a mental illness. The narrator and Usher spend time by talking, but eventually go mad and the narrator tries to calm Usher. Usher's sister was buried by him, but she was still alive when he buried her. The house represents where the Ushers lived and the Usher family. The house fall apart literally and figuratively. My favorite quote is: "House of Usher"--an appellation which seemed to include, in the minds of the peasantry who used it, both the family and the family mansion

The Fall of The House of Usher

The house itself was very old and desolate when narrator had first arrived. While the narrator was at the house with Roderick they create music and tell stories to each other. The Usher's sister was put under a coma and had thought to be dead. Towards the end of the novel the broken down house had started to slide down the hill into the lake. My favorite quote is "we painted and read together; or I listened, as if in a dream, to wild improvisations of his speaking guitar."

The House of Usher

In this story a man or the narrator goes to see one of his old friend that is sick. When he arrives at the house he notices that it is in shambles and is very old looking. In this story Ushers sister dies and he buries her in the family vault. Usher hears the sound of his sister in the vault and fears that he may have buried her alive. To his nightmare he sees his sister and dies in fear or in shock. In this story the narrator and Usher spend their time together by creating music and reading. At the end of the story we see the narrator run out of the house as the house slowly slides into the river never to be seen again. From that chamber, and from that mansion, I fled aghast. The storm was still abroad in all its wrath as I found myself crossing the old causeway. This quote shows the fear in the Narrator as the house sinks into the lake.

Hop Frog

Hop-Frog is a story about revenge because Hop frog wanted revenge because of the way the king was treating him. Hop frog is so intently fixed on getting back at the king Trippeta. He ends up getting revenge on the king and even getting away with it. In our endeavors to recall to memory something long forgotten, we often fin ourselves upon the very verge of remembrance with out being able in the end to remembered. I chose this quote because it shows how Hop Frog had that deceitfulness in him and wanted to get away with killing the king. I chose to compare this event to a thief because you would never expect it and they come and go without you ever knowing what happened

The Fall of the House of Usher

In this story the house is a large creepy building that is starting to break down. The narrator and usher during this time stayed in the house and created music and read. The reason for the fall is because both Madeline and her brother are not wed and have no children meaning the legacy is ending and so is the house. Several days after the narrator arrives at the house Madeline is put into a coma in a way and is thought to be dead. Her brother buries her alive and she later comes back to life and kills him for revenge. During this time the house begins to collapse into the lake and the narrator has enough time to escape death inside the falling house. My favorite quote was , "We have to put her living in the tomb!". I liked this quote because it showed the urgency and ending of the house and how it would soon come to an end.

The Fall of The House of Usher

The house is "dark and gloomy." There were decaying trees and murky ponds surrounding the house. They were boyhood friends. Usher's sister died from something unusual. The house collapses and this symbolizes the death of these two peopleFor the love of God, Montresor!”

House of Usher

The house was what some people would say a "haunted house". It is your typical scary movie house, broken down and dark. The narrator and Usher rarely every left the house. The would spend their time in the house mainly painting, reading, or playing music. The sister passed away in her sleep. At the end of the story the old house finally collapsed.

"We painted and read together; or I listened, as if in a dream, to the wild improvisations of his speaking guitar."

The Fall of the House Of Usher

This story is...creepy at a bare minimum, meaning that it nearly had me brooding and depressed. The story goes on about this clan, or "house", known as Usher. The Usher House had descendants further than the eye can see, but that all ends when the last two descendants, a brother and sister, haven't wed or had any children. In a way, the literal house itself is like the family that lived in it: broken and dying. Amazingly, both the narrator and Usher spend their time talking about how Usher's and his sister's malady will stop them from being able to stay alive and the sister "dies" supposedly from some sort of miasma. They then post a funeral, bury the sister's cadaverously lain body in their house, and the sister pops out of nowhere after the interment, and kills her brother. Honestly, this reminds me of a horror story involving a head-chopper, scary and bewildering the heart. At the end, everything ends up falling apart. The phantasmagorical imagination of Edgar Allan Poe is both genius and monstrously creepy.

"The radiance was that of a full, setting, blood-red moon, which now shone vividly through that once barely discernible fissure..."

The Fall of the house of usher

The house is a very gloom, old and fragile building ready to fall apart. The Usher and the Narrator spend a lot of time together conversing about Ushers sisters death. They propose a funeral and while her so thought "lifeless body" lies there she gets up and murders her brother. He explains the house falling into the lake once he leaves it.

"Madman! I tell you that she now stands outside the door"

Hop Frog

In this story, you can really feel the sense of revenge. Hop frog really hates the king for disrespecting the Trippeta. The king always had the upper hand on Hop Frog and Trippeta, and now that Hop Frog had the upper hand, he used it to punish the king. This reminds me of the slave ships on the Middle Passage. Every once and a while, the slaves would revolt against the slavers who always had the upper hand on them. once the slaves had the upper hand, they killed all of the people who used to beat them.

The Fall of the house of Usher

The narrator in the story describes the house as almost sickly. He notices the house is in disrepair. Something that he cannot describe is that the house in an unknown way vexes him. The narrator and Usher spend their time playing music and telling stories, however his attempts to lighten the spirit of Usher were no use as he seemed to stay sick and depressed. Usher's s sister is like him, sick. She is mentally ill as well as physically ill, but her condition is unknown to the doctors treating her. However she dies and Usher and the narrator bury her in the tomb under the house. They hear sounds and believe that they buried the sister alive and she is trying to escape. She finally is able to emerge from the tomb and she kills her twin brother. After this the narrator flees as the house falls into the lake. My favorite quote from the story was "There was an iciness, a sinking, a sickening of the heart ."

The House Of Usher

The house was very old and seemed to be falling apart. The house also seemed very desolate with very acute dangers. The family was very rich but could not follow on with the legacy because they do not get married. The narrator and the Usher spend their time painting and talking about their descent past. Usher's sister later then dies in her sleep which then they put her to rest in a tomb. After all this happens the house later falls apart. My favorite quote was " I saw the mighty walls rushing asunder-there was a long tumultuous voice like a thousand words". This is my favorite quote because it describes a lot about the narrator and the house aw the mighty walls rushing asunder-there was a long tumultuous shouting sound like the voice of a thousand waters-and the deep and dank tarn at my feet closed sullenly and silently over the fragments of the "House of Usher."

The Fall of the House of Usher

The House of Usher is a large ominous building that is starting to break down. While the Narrator and Roderick stay in this house they create music and read stories. Roderick's sister, Madeline, has a disease that causes her to lose control of her limbs. Days after the Narrator arrives at the house Madeline dies (kind of). When Madeline comes back to life, she first kills her brother for buring her alive. This gives the Narrator an ample amount of time to run out of the house. Once he gets out of the door the house tumbles into the lake. " You must not - you shall behold this!"

THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER

The house was depicted as melancholy and pervading. It was located in a desolate area in the area, there were rank sedges. The narrator walked up the precipitous stairs and through the old crumpling house. He meet Usher in a quit room where they spoke of his daughter who had an acute malady. She died some time later and Usher decided to bury her under the house. She buried her alive. She came out of the tomb and killed her brother. The house finally crumbles at the end of the story. My favorite quote was, "...I saw the mighty walls rushing asunder-there was a long tumultuous shouting sound like the voice of a thousand waters-and the deep and dank tarn at my feet closed sullenly and silently over the fragments of the "House of Usher.""

the house of usher

In this novel, the house was very decrepit. it was falling apart and was full of old paintings. the narrator and Usher spend their time painting and talking about their past. Ushers sister died in her sleep one night and they put her to rest. the house was falling apart during the whole movie, and in the end it fell apart. "the luminousness of his eye had utterly gone out". this is my favorite quote because it shows how Usher had lost all meaning to live during the novel.

Fall of the house of Usher

The house of Usher truly demonstrates Edgar Allen Poe's imagination in this very unpredictable piece of prose writing. The narrarator goes to visit an old friend that has fallen ill and upon the narrarator's arrival he sees that the house is in tatters. Roderick Usher spends time with the narrarator over the next few days. Usher on one day starts to talk about his dead sister. He eventually goes into a state of hysteria where he claims his sister is alive and that he buried her alive on purpose in the family vault. At that moment the dead sister comes out of the vault and Usher dies of fear. As the narrator escapes the house crumbles into the lake portraying the fall of the house of usher.

The Fall of The House of Usher

This story the fall of the house of usher, is mostly about how there house is taking a fall becuase they are not getting married so they cant keep there legacy going with there house. So since they have alot of money, but not enough to re-do the house, they cant make it smaller just for the 2 them, so they hare falling apart in both ways. So it sums up how they have chances to find true love, but they cant so there house and there life is falling apart. this is a long story, but at the same time it is very interesting and intriguing.

The Fall of the House of the Usher

The House of the Fall of the Usher is a story with too mentally unstable siblings who have no offspring and accompanied by their friend the house starts to fall down with them. The house is often described "dark" and "gloomy" in the story. It is described as on the dull evening in the beginning that the melancholy house is in view. This house is rather big but far from joyful and welcoming. The Usher and Narrator spend their time with the narrator reading books to the Usher.Such as the book The Mad Trist. Usher's sister was believed to be dead at a point but she was put in a tomb which later results in her actually being alive. Then when the two meet together when she gets her out of the tomb she escapes and she kills him through fear with the sister dying after that. The house then starts to crumble and goes into the lake with the narrator escaping.
My favorite quote is: "The windows were long, narrow, and pointed, and at so vast a distance from the black oaken floor as to be altogether inaccessible from within."

Hop Frog

The main concept revolving around the story, Hop Frog, is that everybody wants revenge on the king. The king embarrassed Hop Frog and his girlfriend. He also made Hop Frog do things he never wanted or planned to do such as drink wine and making an awful name out of anything. The way Hop Frog walks should not make that his name in a comical way and the King really didn't give him a good opportunity. The only reason Hop Frog started to get really angry with his name is because everyone started calling him by Hop Frog instead of his true birth name.

Hop-Frog

Hop-Frog talks about revenge because Hop-frog wanted revenge after the King had disrespected Trippeta, and since Hop-Frog cares so much about Trippeta he plans revenge against the king and he ends up getting away with it. In this book the author really scrutinizes the way that Hop-Frog feels. "I am Hop-Frog, the jester, and this is my last jest." This was my favorite quote because it had been a very good last line before Hop-Frog had killed the king and his men. This story reminds me of the story of David and Goliath because even though Hop-Frog is very weak he ends up defeating the king and his strong men.

Hop Frog

Hop frog talks about revenge because after the king disrespected Trippeta, and since he cares much for Trippeta he plans revenge against the king and gets away with it.
"Drink I say!" - i like how Edgar Allan Poe criticizes he king with this quote describing how he cares not about jester by ordering him like that.
This reminds me of the rivalry that bergen and bosco have. If say the football team loses the soccer teams work hard to avenge them. Just like Hop-frog avenged Trippeta

Hop Frog

Our class as been reading about trickster tales and the latest one we have read was the Hop Frog by Edgar Allen Poe. Hop Frog is a sort of revenge tale because Hop Frog is trying to humiliate the king because he was making fun of him and the girl he is falling in love with. Hop Frog is a typical trickster. Sly and clever, he hides his emotion about to the king from him. This story reminds me of the 9/11/01 attack by the Middle Eastern people. After that happened, the US felt they had to fight back because they thought that the Middle Eastern people were making nuclear weapons.

In what ways is this story a revenge tale? What is the narrator criticizing about the characters? Add a quote about your favorite part.

The story is a revenge tale because the jester was constantly ridiculed by the king and his fiends. Hop-frog took action and made them pay the price for the way they treated him. He set them on fire during the masquerade in front of a multitude of people. The narrator is criticizing the repulsive behavior of the king and his fellows. My favorite quote is "I am simply Hop-Frog, the jester-and this is my last jest," because it says that he has defeated his enemies and is free from the barbarous ways.
