This painting was painted by Albert Bierstadt, and the name of it is called The Sierra. this is a American romantic painting because the artist was trying to pin point the beautiful view that is being portrayed. This picture coming from the mid west of a nice romantic river for a nice couple who just met to go and have their first date there. He painted this because he knows the colors and the moon how the color hits the painting really makes it beautiful. I personally think it’s beautiful. Albert Bierstadt was an American German painter who was best known for his lavish, making sweeping landscapes, and making photos that people can really relate too. Growing up he was never really the type to play sports or do activities. He was always painting the scenery outside his house, or painting portraits of places he wish he was. When he had the shot go big he took it right away. This picture really catches someone’s eyes because it portrays so much color and beauty, and how the sun hits the surface of the water it truly is amazing. He has become my new favorite painter.

He uses a lot of different colors on all of the different parts of the picture like the tress and the water and the mountain are all different shades of totally different colors. I think that’s better because it really catches your eye, you’re not just focusing on one part of the picture, your eye is catching all of the colors in the while picture. The picture really shows the true color and beauty of the lake and the mountain. The way the yellow of the grass, mixes with the brown of the mountains really ties together. The brown from the mountain also reflects on the water, so the pond has a kind of brownish color on the surface of the water. The grass and the tress are a very dark green, so those stand out because all the other colors are kind of light yellow and light brown.

The way your eye looks is going from the bottom where the lake is, going upward towards the mountain. They way the mirror effect works is you can see the mountain in the river before actually looking at it. So it makes you look up ward. The tress and the grass both stand out because the tree is a dark green, and so is the grass, so they catch your eye right in the beginning.
