Fredric Edwin Church

This painting is by Frederic Edwin Church the name of the painting is Aurora Borealis painted in 1865.
Its about 6 feet long and 4 feet high.The painting was painted with oil on canvas and its current location is the Smithsonian Museum. His family is wealthy, which let Fredric become an artist at a very young age. At eightteen he became a pupil of Thomas Col. He was then associate of the National Academy of designs and he was the youngest to do so. He settled in New York and often went on long walks sketching.
This painting has a varity of colors and they compliment each other. The focus is in the sky where there are the beautiful colors. The water is very well painted it looks like if you go and touch it you would get wet and the boat very well drawn its a keyt to the painting it makes the painting look more realistic.
