The book is about the French and Indian War and the war that took place on the North American Colonies. The French allied with the Native American tribes to fight the British. The story centers around Uncas and Chingachgook who are the only remaining Mohicans. The Mohicans rival with the Huron tribe and their chief, Magua. Hawkeye becomes an escort of the Munro sisters through the forest.
