Sierra Nevada by Albert Bierstadt

This painting was painted by Albert Bierstadt and it was given the name sierra Nevada. Bierstadt was a German-American Painter best known for his landscape portraits. He was art of the Hudson river school an art institute for artists with similar ideas. "The Schools style involved detailed paintings with romantic, almost glowing lighting."
This photo shows nature in a calm and serene state. This painting showed a lot of realism and allowed me to just relax. The light in this photo is showing that nature is not always a threat to us and the dark shows that it can also be unpredictable.
The colors in this painting are both light and dark. The Frame, the cliff and the trees, are darkened so you focus more on the clear water and the bright mountains in the center. There are patterns of strokes in the vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines. The painter made it darker in some places so you dont really focus on that area of the canvas.
