Occupy Wall Street

The Occupy Wall Street movement is a protest movement against social and economic inequality, greed, corruption, and exceeded government's influence by corporation. It started from September 17, 2011, and its slogan is "We are the 99%", which complains the government to make advantages to only 1% of the wealthy people. Its goal of the protests is economic justice, specifically, a "transaction tax" on international financial speculation. Their ultimate goal is to provide influences to other nations internationally too, not only changing national conversation. It fits the definition of civil disobedience because the Occupy Wall Street movement refused to obey the certain laws or governmental demands and rose up to against the government's unfair treatment, There was another famous civil disobedience protest in America, leaded by Martin Luther King Jr. who peacefully protested the American government which treated the black people and white people unfairly. By this method, the mess media spotlighted Martin Luther King Jr. and he became famous hot issue maker at that time. Through his movement, many living conditions and treatment for the black people got much better than before.

This painting by Albert Bierstadt is called "Immigrants crossing the prairie". Albert Bierstadt is one of the most prominent romantic artists and this is one of his less famous pieces of art. This year would have been the 110th anniversary of his death. He painted the American west and was a German immigrant. His paintings are some what hard to find now because his studio burned down in an accident. The ones that still exist are true works of art.
Albert Bierstadt's style uses bright colors and everything seems to glow. This painting is no exception, it has a radiance to it that gives the sunset a realism. The natural form of the picture gives a better natural feel to the painting

Occupy Wall Street

The Occupy Wall Street is a protest by a group of people are trying to change a new tax that is trying to be passed that says the wealthy would gain more money than the poor. The goal of the this protest by these people is to make sure that this bill doesn't get passed. In my opinion, I think that it does go under the category of Civil Disobedience because they are going against something the government is trying to pass. The difference between the protest now and when Martin Luther King Jr. was alive was mainly the fact that laws of the United States were much different. King tried to change laws that he thought were unconstitutional and bias towards African Americans. I think that this bill shouldn't be passed because it is going to make it harder for people to pay for things that they can hardly afford now.

occupy

The protestors in Occupy wall street are a group of people who want to change some of america's financial, political, and social policies. the group has not presented any solutions to the "problems" in america, nor have the officially named the problems. roughly, they want to take away power from big business, and the 1% of rich people. i think it is civil disobedience, their protests are very different from Martin Luther King Jr.'s protests, they had one common goal, to make all people equal despite their skin color. the people on wallstreet arent going to make a difference without a common goal

Occupy Wall Street.

The Occupy Wall Street protest is literally a protest. It goes against that tax he government ha been trying to pass saying that the wealthy would gain more money than the poor, basically. The goals of this protest is to make sure that doesn't get passed. This led to many "internet memes", one known as the "We are the 1 Percent". Obviously, yes, this goes under the category of Civil Disobedience mainly because it's going against the government and everything they are trying to pursue. People are trying to get the point across that not everyone can afford things already, but then to impose something like this on the majority of the population is just wrong. One very good comparison to the Wall Street movement is the movement led by Martin Luther King Jr. He also tried going against the government in order for the rights of African Americans in the United States to be granted. The difference between then and now is that back then, when Luther Jr. was still alive, the laws governing the U.S. were different. Now everyone has equality, but not until that bill is shelved because, once again, people can't afford many things even now, but to impose something like this is inconceivable and will lead to nothing but the downfall of the economy because no one will be able to pay for anything.

Occupy Wall Street

Occupy Wall Street is a protest in New York City. They are mainly located in the financial district. These people are working for the 99% of people who they believe more financial quality. They want better jobs, more say in politics, and more equality when it comes to the distribution of income. Yes I believe some of the activities of Occupy Wall Street do fall under the category of Civil Disobedience but it is all for a good cause. That does not excuse them from the laws though. Recently, Occupy Wall Street protesters moved their protest to Union Square Park. They are looking to spread their ideas around the country. Also they were kicked out of their original grounds at Zuccotti Park.

Occupy Wall Street Movement

The Occupy wall street movement is a series of protest in the head of capitalist america, wall street. It is a movement that is fighting for economic equality. Yes the movement in wall street defines civil disobedience because people are rioting and protesting for equality just like the civil rights movement with martin Luther king Jr.

Occupy Wall Street

The Occupy Wall Street movement is a protest movement that started in Zuccotti Park in New York City on September 17, 2011. The Occupy Wall Street protesters are voicing their opinions about greed, economic inequality and corruption financially. I do believe the Occupy Wall Street movement fits the definition of Civil Disobedience because protesters are allowed the right to peacefully protest and they are voicing their concerns over the current situation in the economy. In New York City, protesters have voiced their opinions of them being the "99%" and are very persistent when it comes to protesting in parks. Although they may get kicked out of parks they always are determined to keep going and nothing detours them from their goal of being heard.

occupy wall street

The occupy wall street is a protest movement that began on September 17th, 2011 in New York City. they are against social and economic inequalities, greed, corruption, and the influence companies have on the government. Its goals are to stop the wall street into being above everybody else an stopping the thought that they have more power than everyone else. i believe this is an example of civil disobedience because the wall street is getting out of hand and the government is not doing anything about it. An example is in New York City they had a protest were they chanted we are the 99% and you are the 1%. this has called lots of controversy. The occupy wall street movement is too stop the greed from the rich

The Sierra

This painting was painted by Albert Bierstadt, and the name of it is called The Sierra. He was portraying the beautiful view of a river in the mid west. I think this painting is gorgeous. When I look at it, I see so many different beautiful things about it. It was painted in 1868. Albert was a German-American painter best known for his lavish, sweeping landscapes of the American West. In obtaining the subject matter for these works, Bierstadt joined several journeys of the Westward Expansion. Though not the first artist to record these sites, Bierstadt was the foremost painter of these scenes for the remainder of the 19th century.

This picture is very colorful. it uses cool colors and is very foggy. Every little thing catches my eye; whether it be the animals down below, or the waterfalls going into the river. This is very interesting and beautiful. There is a lot of green and trees. The water shows the reflection of the mountains and the waterfall. You really have to look closely to notice this. The texture seems very rough. The mountains are very bumpy and rough. Then it goes down to the water which is smooth.

The rhythm of this painting is up and down and all over the place. But, when you first look at this painting, the focus is on the middle right away. I first looked up at the mountain then moved down to the small waterfall in the distance. Then, I moved down to the shiny lake. As I looked at the lake, i saw the reflection of the mountain in the body of water. The animals were seen because I was really focusing on ever part of this picture.

American Painting

This painting is entitled The Oxbow, it takes place neat the Connecticut River near Northampton. This painting is split in two the left and right. The left seems to be dark mysterious and unexplored while the right seems peaceful safe and simple. This painting took place in 1836 it was around the time Lewis and Clark left for their expedition. What I think this painting symbolizes is the explored and unexplored side of the Connecticut river. The darkness looks like it is being pushed to the left side, or away from the bright or right side. I think the painter made it like this because it symbolizes It being discovered by Lewis and Clark.

Thomas Cole was born in Feb, 1 1801 and died Feb 11, 1848. He had a very short life. He was an English born American. He is regarded as the founder of the Hudson River School, which is an American art movement that took place in the mid-19th century. He is best known for his landscape and romantic paintings, His mos famous paintings where The Oxbow and The Titan's Goblet

This painting has some geometric features. The first one and more noticeable is the horizon. It is almost a straight line and it divides the sky from the ground. The second also noticeable geometry is the darkness creeping into the light. It divides the dark and unexplored side with the happy and explored side. This painting is called The Oxbow because of the shape the river has. Also if you look carefully you can actually see the painter.

Working in America

What I want to accomplish by doing these interviews is I want to understand the hardships and the amount of work people have to go through in order to receive the money they really need. With that, I'll be able to understand why our parents say "no" to us when we really need or want something. What I'll probably discover are the true qualities of the facilities they work at and for, how their relationships are with their co-workers, and how they deal with the amount of work they have to do. I'm only concerned with sharing this research with my family, since sometimes these kinds of things can end up as personal matters. I'm not really concerned with the presidential candidates, but if I were to ask them something, I'd ask them through what means would they want to fix the economy. Everyone knows that everyone will fix the economy, but they want to know how and through what resources.

Working in America

(a) what do you hope to accomplish with your questions?
- I want to ask the working people about their real life and economic condition because I really wonder whether what written in The Nickel and Dimed is true or not. In the book, the condition is much terrible than where we live. I thought such people were only existed in 17th century, when Industrialization just happened. The problem is such people are keeping increasing in modern days too.

(b) what do you think you might discover?
- I might find that the real life of the working people and their hardship in their life. From this, I can feel and experience their condition directly which can make me to be influenced deeply. This interview also can make us to realize that we are living in really good condition. We should appreciate our life which has no problem of house, cloth, and food.

(c) who will you share this research with?
- I will share this research with my family. My family has lived in comfortable condition. We almost never experienced economical hardship. Therefore this research will help my family to see reality of world and reflect our life again.

(d) do you think today's Presidential Candidates are adequately addressing the issues of working people? Please explain. You may mention them by name and the solutions they have addressed.
- My view point of the economy is that the working class is the "engine" that keeps this country progressing. I feel that the presidential candidates like, Ron Paul and Mitt Romney address the economical issues well but cannot put what they say into action.

Working in America Questions

(a) I hope to interview someone, and ask them questions that aren't too personal, but not too shy that i cant get any information from them. I hope to accomplish to see how people enjoy there jobs in this rough economy.

(b) I think i might discover that, some people are comfortable right now in there living accommodation's, and some people might want to expand or increase there revenue, and there work ability.

(c)I will share my research with Mr.Horner, and my classmates to see if the research i got, is similar to the research they got. I will also show my family, because i think they will be interested in my research.

(d) I personally think that Obama has been trying to work on the job problems in the U.S., but there is so many other accurateness happing, that he kind of just keeps pushing it off, not knowing that people's lives and home's are at stake. So personally i dont think he's not doing anything at all to help the problem, but i dont think he's doing enough.

questions

With The questions I am going to ask my mother and step-dad i believe I will understand the working area much more better. i Can also learn a little bit more on what they do doing the day and understand how working is important and the struggles it takes to be a working person. I might discover ways to prepare myself for the years to come and have experience by the time it does come. Hopefully i can learn a few things and be able to use ideas and thoughts for my use. I will share the research with my mom and step-dad. I also believe the presidents are addressing the issues of the working people because every person who is running is focusing mainly about the people who are struggling.

Working in America

By interviewing two American workers working daily jobs, I hope to gain an understanding about today's business world. I want to get a behind the scenes look of people's jobs. I think I will discover the reality of the working world. I will share my results with my English teacher, as well as my English class.

I believe Barack Obama is the best candidate in the presidential election. So far he has proved himself well so far in his first terms. I know he is continuing to create more jobs for people around the nations. Also he is addressing the issue of people being able to afford a college education with student loans which is something that I am behind him in.

Working in America

a) I hope to find out interesting little facts about people's lives during work that annoy them. I hope they tell me things like they don't think their Health Care Plan in unfair or even smaller issues like how many work days they get off.
b)I think I'll learn more insight to a day in the life of an American Worker. I might learn things that get overlooked like how many workers are getting fired because labor in other countries is cheaper.
c)I will share these results with my teacher, family members, and classmates.
d)I think some issues are definitely be looked at and trying to be addressed. One of these major issues is the Health Care Plan. This has been a main issue through out all the electives and i feel this concept might be a deciding issue and it could make or break an elective. Another issue which is being addressed are the handing out of jobs in other countries because of cheaper labor. This is putting many people out of jobs and should be addressed.

Working In america

A. I hope that I will get a better understanding for what it is like working in America during hard economic times through the first hand experience that i will obtain through these interviews.

B. I think that I may discover how lucky I am to have the privileges that I have because some people don't have it as good as I do.

C. To be respectful to the people I interview, I feel that it would not be ethical to tell more people than necessary because it is not information that should be made very public.

D. They address this issue very frequently because it is one of the biggest issues, I feel like none of them ignore it and no one stands out as the one who addresses it the most.

Interview Questions

With this interview I think that i will learn about the working class and the struggles a working man faces. I think i will discover how a typical day of a working person goes. I will share my research with my parents and other workers to see what their opinion of the interview is. I think the Presidential candidates are all trying their best to increase the employment rate.

Working in America

1. What I hope to accomplish with my interview questions with working people is to find out what their biggest concern is throughout their life at their current job. (ex, getting fired, pay cuts, less hours)
2. I believe I will discover that people do encounter many problems or fears of losing their job. Many people have that fear due to the economy and I believe I will hear about it during the interview process.
3. I will share my work with my parents to let them see how people respond in this process.
4. Unfortunately I believe the only good presidential candidate is Ron Paul who is in last at the moment. He has bright ideas to boost our economy and I believe he could bring us to the top if he had more support he would become a fantastic president.

Working People in America

A.) With these questions, I hope to find out more about the people of the working class and how they deal with their jobs during such economic chaos worldwide. I also hope to find out how people make it by with all the other expenses and cost of living.
B.) I think I will find out more about jobs and how people get by with expenses. I also think I'm going to see the difference in how much people work in order to be where they are or to get to where they want to be.
C.) I plan on sharing this research with the rest of my English class.
D.) I do not think that the candidates are addressing the economic problems correctly because of the fact that I noticed all of the Republic candidates are aiming to raise taxes on people who make over x amount of millions and lower the taxes for people under that amount. That raising of tax on those who make x amount of millions will increase the prices of whatever their company puts out and it comes right back to the people who do not make x amount. Furthermore, the Health Care plan has become a lot of talk as well. Health Care affects every working person and should be provided for all people but other hard working men and women should not have their taxes be paying for others who are not even trying to move forward and better their lives to provide for themselves and move from food stamps, section 8, etc.

Working in America

With my questions I hope to learn about the work environment, cleanliness, and comfort levels with employees and their boss. If they are comfortable with saying how much they make and how often. Also whether or not they ever have to work overtime and what the situation with their sick or vacations days is. Finally what the commute is like and what their favorite and least favorite part of the job is. I think I might discover how comfortable they are with their own job and how they feel about their salary and co-workers. I will most likely only share this research with my English teacher and maybe some of my family, unless of course the person I interview insists that their information remains confidential. If I had the chance to ask one of the presidential candidates one questions about what they are doing for working people I would ask him what he is doing to open up jobs that illegal immigrants may be taking.

This painting was painted by Albert Bierstadt, and the name of it is called The Sierra. this is a American romantic painting because the artist was trying to pin point the beautiful view that is being portrayed. This picture coming from the mid west of a nice romantic river for a nice couple who just met to go and have their first date there. He painted this because he knows the colors and the moon how the color hits the painting really makes it beautiful. I personally think it’s beautiful. Albert Bierstadt was an American German painter who was best known for his lavish, making sweeping landscapes, and making photos that people can really relate too. Growing up he was never really the type to play sports or do activities. He was always painting the scenery outside his house, or painting portraits of places he wish he was. When he had the shot go big he took it right away. This picture really catches someone’s eyes because it portrays so much color and beauty, and how the sun hits the surface of the water it truly is amazing. He has become my new favorite painter.

He uses a lot of different colors on all of the different parts of the picture like the tress and the water and the mountain are all different shades of totally different colors. I think that’s better because it really catches your eye, you’re not just focusing on one part of the picture, your eye is catching all of the colors in the while picture. The picture really shows the true color and beauty of the lake and the mountain. The way the yellow of the grass, mixes with the brown of the mountains really ties together. The brown from the mountain also reflects on the water, so the pond has a kind of brownish color on the surface of the water. The grass and the tress are a very dark green, so those stand out because all the other colors are kind of light yellow and light brown.

The way your eye looks is going from the bottom where the lake is, going upward towards the mountain. They way the mirror effect works is you can see the mountain in the river before actually looking at it. So it makes you look up ward. The tress and the grass both stand out because the tree is a dark green, and so is the grass, so they catch your eye right in the beginning.

Fredric Edwin Church

File:Frederic Edwin Church Aurora Borealis.jpg
This painting is by Frederic Edwin Church the name of the painting is Aurora Borealis painted in 1865.
Its about 6 feet long and 4 feet high. The painting was painted with oil on canvas and its current location is the Smithsonian Museum. His family is wealthy, which let Fredric become an artist at a very young age. At eightteen he became a pupil of Thomas Col. He was then associate of the National Academy of designs and he was the youngest to do so. He settled in New York and often went on long walks sketching.
This painting has a varity of colors and they compliment each other. The focus is in the sky where there are the beautiful colors. The water is very well painted it looks like if you go and touch it you would get wet and the boat very well drawn its a keyt to the painting it makes the painting look more realistic.

Artist Descriptions

This was a painting by the artist Albert Bierstadt. Albert Bierstadt was an German American painter who, in this painting was trying to express the beauty of the Sierra, which is the name of this painting. He painted many other great paintings such as Mt. Rainier.
I found this painting interesting because Bierstadt had used a lot of different colors, and the strokes of this painting was very interesting. Another thing that I found interesting was how you could see the strokes of the artists in the mountains, it looks very cool. Another cool part of this painting is how the hills in the background also looks like you could see the strokes that Bierstadt had done.
There are many great aspects in this painting, and I realize that this painting was probably changed slightly because of how bright the colors are in this painting. The colors are very bright and that is the main reason why is caught my attention. I also I could see the reflection of the mountains on the lake and how there are animals all around the lake. I can see many different colors like: yellow, green, blue, brown, and beige.

Robert Seldon Duncanson was an African-American painter who was the descendant of a Virginian slave. (1821-1872)This painting was painted by Duncanson, Robert S. in 1871. This painting is an image praising nature and its beauty. The painting is of a secluded lake, on a perfect day. The the painter uses earthy hues of blues, greens and yellows, that relaxes the viewer. the artist doesnt use many sharp shapes, and makes the image all flow together. it is dark on either side, with the bright light of the sun between the trees

Artist Description

Kenneth Shanika was the artist who composed this masterpiece. He has a studio at his home on Trout Creek Ranch. He currently has over 100 paintings for sale and is at his studio most of his time. His primary focus is landscape portraits in oil color. His favorite spot to paint is the rocky mountains. Kenneth goes there and will stay there for months and just look at the mountains.
In his painting, Mountain Lake, the strokes all go from side to side in the lake, and from top to bottom in the mountain itself. The colors mainly come in brown or light blue. This represents the sky, mountain, and lake. Most of the shapes include Triangles and circles. The texture is rough at parts, but mostly smooth in the sky and lake.
The rhythm of this painting takes your eyes to the mountain first. That is where the emphasis is mostly. Also, the Balance of this painting flows from bottom to top. The rocks in the lake balance out the mountain so that there isn't a major color change and it is gradual.

The Catskills by Asher Brown Durand

File:The Catskills Durand.jpg

This painting was by Asher Brown Durand. He was born on August 21, 1796 in Maplewood New Jersey. He got into painting in 1830 and liked sketching the Catskills, Adirondacks, and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Durand believed that nature was an manifestation of god, and he expressed that sentiment and his views on art in "Letters on Landscape Painting". Durand eventually died on September 17, 1886 in Maplewood, New Jersey.
This painting has a lot of vertical lines with the trees, and some horizontal lines in the background with the plat surface. This painting has a lot of different colors, most of the colors are green because of the trees, and there is some light blue in the sky. There is no formal shapes in this painting, but there are shapes with the trees and the the hill in the background. There are very rough textures in the painting with the trees, the trees barks, and the grass. There is a soft texture in the sky and the flat surface in the background.
There is a lot of emphasis on the tall trees in the painting and in the background area with the sky and the hills and plat land too. The trees balances the painting and they show pattern in it as well.

His family was very supportive and always told him that he was going to do good. He is a really good painter.

Alpine By Joseph Mallord William Turner

Alpine is by Joseph Mallord William Turner. The painting shows a mountainous region, the area contains a river between the two mountains. In the painting you see the people down at the bottom and a boat in the river. These people aren't painted clearly because the focus of the painting is the scenery. The painting doesn't contain bright colors. The colors are unclear and in the background the color becomes dull and foggy to show the fog at the higher altitudes. The painting has a even rhythm with the brush strokes being abstract. The colors of the painting fade out in the back to represent the fog. The colors are brighter in the front and express the bright colors of the surrounding mountains.

Albert Bierstadt's style uses bright colors and everything seems to glow. This painting is no exception, it has a radiance to it that gives the sunset a realism. The natural form of the picture gives a better natural feel to the painting

Mount Madison by the Androscoggin River - William Hart

·         Hart was born in Paisley, Scotland, He went to America along with his family while he was still young. He was an apprentice to a carriage painter at Albany, New York, and his first artistic experience was in decorating the panels of coaches with landscapes.
·         He exhibited his first work at the National Academy of Design in 1848. He then became a full member in 1858, and continued to show his paintings there regularly through the mid 1870s. Hart was a member of the American Watercolor Society, and was its president from 1870 to 1873. Like most of the other major American artists of that time, Hart settled in New York City, where he opened a studio in the Tenth Street Studio building in 1858.

The Strokes of this art piece is relatively smooth-looking. My focus heads towards the middle, towards the mid-lining hills. The contrast between the bright colored sky and the relatively dark lake makes me want to see the convergence point between the two contrasting elements. The colors of this painting are primarily green and yellow in the foreground, while the background, the sky, is blue. The green is albeit darker than that of the blue, further suggesting the contrast between the two. The one framing comes from the trees on the left.

In the Catskills by Thomas Doughty

Thomas Doughty was an American artist of the Hudson River School. He was born in Philadelphia and was the first American artist to work exclusively as a landscapist. His paintings often expressed an entrance type of atmosphere entering the landscape. Thomas Doughty was known to have painted in the rivers, valleys, and mountains of Pennsylvania, New York, New England, and especially the Hudson River Valley. He taught himself how to paint while apprenticing for a leather manufacturer.

This painting show what a beautiful land American has to offer in all of its sanctuary and peace. At first glance you can see an enormous mountain in the background through a haze; this mountain is outlined by outlying hills to emphasize how large the mountain really is. Following down to the reflections of the hills in the lake shows great detail in how smooth the water really is and how calm the water becomes. The trees lastly offer a great deal of quietness and calm sanctuary of the whole lake as a place to escape and be alone in your own world outside of civilization.

Thomas Doughty was known for his unique landscapes although the brushstrokes set him apart in this painting, he uses loose strokes to detail the impressions in the painting; it develops a hazed image of the area. The colors you mainly see are a dark green to gloom the setting down, blue to express the mountain in the background and the reflection in the water, and brown to represent the hills and dirt spread around throughout nature. Another color some may see is the yellow tint he placed upon the weeds and the grass to brighten the entrance into the painting. His painting all comes together with the colors blending to see a relaxing image that is not busy being filled with colors rather it has the smooth calm effect by keeping the color size to a minimum and making it as a sanctuary for peace.

Distant view of Niagara Falls 1830

Thomas Cole was a very well known american painter. He is known as the founder of the Hudson River School. He was born on February 1st 1801-February 11th 1848, only died at the age of 47. His work was known for the realistic and detailed portrayal of american landscape and wilderness. His themes for every paintings were romantic and naturalism. the picture shows a lot of dark lines which brings out a lot in the painting. There is a waterfall that is in the middle of the painting which is the brightest part of the picture.
The texture of the painting goes from smooth to ruff, going from the water and shy being smooth and the land being darker and ruff and color. The overall colors are mostly dark except for the middle of the painting where it has a beautifully painted waterfall. Most of the shapes in the painting are smooth and rounded. This affect makes it look very smooth and brings out a lot of the contrast. The texture looks ruff but has a soft and smooth feel to it.
The composition in the picture is focused towards the middle. But your eyes go from left to right because of the way the painting was painted. The balance of the painting is more towards the right of the picture. Even thought the painting is focused in the middle, the way the balance is your eyes drift towards the right. The overall picture is very nice and has great smaller details.

Mt. Rainier by Albert Biernstadt

Mount Rainier Painting by Albert Bierstadt
This painting is named Mt. Rainier by Albert Biernstadt. I love this picture because of the progression of the picture. Your attention is immediately grabbed by the big white mountain in the background. The white mountain protrudes from the land like a giant tooth, and immediately grabs the attention of the viewer. This painting is a very intriguing because the main subject of the painting (the mountain) is not necessarily the thing that is in focus. The trees in the foreground of the painting are the things that are most focused. The way the painter does this progression of focus makes you feel like you are actually in the painting. When you focus in on the mountain (blurry) and on the smaller mountain range around it (also blurry), out of the corner of your eye, you can see the focused trees and lake as if you were actually there at the scene. This is a very unique painting style that next to nobody used, but is truly beautiful. You can also notice the reflection of the mountain on the river but you can still see the rippling pattern of the water, as if you are actually seeing the river. This painting is quite beautiful and the way the painter progressed the focus on it is amazing.

Romantic Painting

This Painting is called the "Oxbow". It was done by Thomas Cole. It is a romantic painting showing the Connecticut River near Northampton. The painting has two contradicting sides to it. It starts on the left side with a dark shadow accompanied by rugged broken trees with a violent rain cloud above it. Then on the right side it becomes a sun-filled rived accompanied my man-kind. It is 130.8 cm x 193 cm.

Thomas Cole was born in England than came to America with his family when he was about 17. His is well-known for his landscape paintings such as the Oxford. He worked out of a studio in Catskill, New York. He died at the age of 47 in Catskill. The fourth highest peak in Catskill is now named the "Thomas Cole House" in his honor.

Although Cole was known for his American landscape paintings, he produced thousands of sketches for different types of subjects. You can find a large amount of his sketches at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Cole worked as an architecture for a short amount of time. It is something that helped inspire him as an artist. He designed the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, Ohio.

The Sierra by Albert Bierstadt

"The Sierra" was painted by Albert Bierstadt. This painting is a depiction of the Hudson River Valley. There are mountains in the background of this painting, and that is the Catskills. This painting is very beautiful for many different reasons, the painting caught my attention because of how bright it is, and the array of colors. This painting is interesting also because of how you could see the animals all around the water, and how you can see the reflection of the mountains on the water.

Looking up the Yosemite Valley-Albert Bierstadt

This painting was made by the famous romantic painter Albert Bierstadt. He was born in Solingen, Germany on January 7 1830 and this was one of his most famous paintings. In this picture you can see the transition from dark to light as you go up the painting. The light is focused predominately on the Yosemite valley and the sky while the dark is on the ground in front of it. This painting is far from nonconformist and actually is a great example of a romantic painting. At the end of his life this painting was bestowed to the Haggin museum is California being one of the biggest attractions.
This painting has a contrast of light to dark as you go down with a feeling of aversion in the bottom. Though with sun out across the valley it is very peaceful. Their is no consistent color it seems all to be according to the actual color done with very thin brush strokes. It is very life like and detailed down to every aspect since Albert Bierstadt was not loath in painting this picture. It has the mountain with a very defined shape.
This painting has two parts that come into unity with a light and dark side. Both of these are balanced on their respect sides and are both an equal amount of the painting. The rhythm is very calm and soothing on the top that regresses towards to the bottom where it gets much darker. While it is very clear that it is wanted for your focus and emphasis to be on the top looking down the valley towards the mountains and the sky while the bottom. Mostly the bottom right corner has less emphasis and seems to be unimportant.

The Voyage

Thomas Cole was a large part of the Romanticism movement that swept through America during the 1800's. From a young age Cole showed signs of great art ability. As he grew he continued to work at his craft and later helped others master their talent by opening up his Hudson River School. Thomas Cole is most known for his great ability to portray the wilderness and wildlife in a serene fashion.
This picture is an example of many different types of soothing colors. In the background the leaves on the trees use different brush strokes to emphasize their different stems. The artist also uses darker colors to make them more prominent. In the upper corner the artist created a more serene bright colors. He did this by using brighter colors.
One of the best features about the painting is its balance. Near the top of the painting there is a yellowish color that slowly blends and changes its a dull rust color. This painting also has great harmony throughout it.

Storm in the Mountains

Albert Bierstadt painted this painting called Storm in the Mountains. Albert Bierstadt was born on September 7, 1830 in Solingen, Germany. Bierstadt was heavily involved with the Romanticism art movement and it showed through his numerous amounts of paintings. Bierstadt was known for joining many Westward expansion trips. Bierstadt was also a member of the Hudson River School which was a group of painters that had similar views and ways of painting.Bierstadt went to school for painting at the Dusseldorf school and was strongly influenced by William Bliss Baker.

In this painting, the clouds give that soft feel around the mountains which seem to have rough texture. The grass at the bottom is on a horizontal line and the mountains are a vertical line. There are lots of greens present that make the picture have a cool feeling as opposed to a warm feeling. The shapes present in the picture are all organic, the mountains, the trees and the clouds.

In the painting we see that the clouds are asymmetrical where the clouds are denser on the right then to the left. We also see that the clouds are framing the mountain in the back where we see it is brighter. Also there is a pattern and repetition of the trees on the bottom by the valley. The rhythm of this picture takes me from the clouds to the mountain. The picture does create unity. I believe this painting is good because it is very different. I find it interesting how the clouds basically wrap around the mountains and it is so different from anything i have ever seen.

Painting

This painting was painted by Duncanson, Robert S.

The Sierra

This painting is by Albert Bierstadt. It was named "The Sierra." It is known as the Hudson River School. This depicts the Hudson River Valley. the mountains in the background are the Catskills. This painting is very beautiful in different ways. The water flowing all the way in the back of the picture is very nice. It also shows all nature which is attractive. the animals at the foreground of it makes it interesting because they are getting their water supply from this water source.

After the Storm by William Hart

This painting was drawn by William Hart, a Scottish-born American landscape and cattle painter, born in 1823, and Hudson River School artist. He went to America frequently studying landscape painting, such as decorating the panels of coaches with landscapes. He became particularly adept at depicting angled sunlight and foreground shadow; one of the best examples is this painting, "After the Storm," drawn in 1860s. Hart died at Mount Vermon, New York, on June 17, 1894.

In this painting, its mood is gloomy and dark. Most of colors are consisted of black and gray.
The shapes in the picture are basically not clear. Affected by the gloomy mood, the shapes look
like not detailed but foggy. Forms and textures are natural. Nothing in the picture is incongruous.
Also, the picture contains perspective so I can realize the distances between the shapes and
locations of them. The people with the carriage and the big tree are located forward and the hill is
located behind. There are several colors used in the picture. All the sky is covered with gray cloud
which forms gloomy mood of the picture. The other parts of the picture also do not contain bright
colors. Even though the color of ground and tree are brown and green, they are dark brown and
dark green. The only part that has light color is where the sun points out. It contains yellow and
light green which make to feel bright.
When I see this picture, my eyes go directly to hill behind the tree with bright sunshine. As the title of the picture, After the Storm, it concentrates on the weather after the storm. It is still dark and gloomy, right after storm, but calm and becoming better. One of William Hart's characteristics in his pictures, depicting angled sunlight and shadow are well represented. The ascending hill in the picture is brighter than other parts. However, we cannot see the sun in the picture. It might be in very left upper corner of the picture, the part that is not drawn, because that part contains bright beam lightly, which happened when sun arises. Angled sunlight is drawn naturally, which is the main point of this picture, and the picture perfectly fits to the title, After the Storm.

‘Alley By The Lake’ by Leonid Afremov

This painting was painted by Leonid Afremov. It was named "Alley By The Lake." There are some romantic aspects about this painting. The aspect of nature is quite interesting. On the left side, it seems as if it is autumn. On the right side it seems as if it is winter. There is a frozen lake on the right side. The couple in this are holding an umbrella and the ground bellow them is wet. It is like a walkway between two seasons. It is a very touching painting and gets me relaxed. The mixture between the warm and cold colors really grabs my attention.

Sierra Nevada by Albert Bierstadt

This painting was painted by Albert Bierstadt and it was given the name sierra Nevada. Bierstadt was a German-American Painter best known for his landscape portraits. He was art of the Hudson river school an art institute for artists with similar ideas. "The Schools style involved detailed paintings with romantic, almost glowing lighting."
This photo shows nature in a calm and serene state. This painting showed a lot of realism and allowed me to just relax. The light in this photo is showing that nature is not always a threat to us and the dark shows that it can also be unpredictable.
The colors in this painting are both light and dark. The Frame, the cliff and the trees, are darkened so you focus more on the clear water and the bright mountains in the center. There are patterns of strokes in the vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines. The painter made it darker in some places so you dont really focus on that area of the canvas.

The Oxbow By: Thomas Cole

THE OXBOW by Thomas Cole
This painting called, "The Oxbow" by Thomas Cole is a great example of Romanticism. The deep marsh and rough greens in the painting kind of signify a new leaf as you can see the sun shining through in the top of the painting. This painting shows a very melancholy side and also new bright side of things. This painting shows the Connecticut river located by Northampton. Thomas Cole shows the fierce stormy side on the left and then it transitions into a smooth and crisp spring atmosphere. Thomas Cole had a great influence on the age of Romantic art and will be remembered for his wonderful and unique work. One other take on this picture you could take would be the storm on the left about to overtake the nice weather shown on the right side leaving a very gloomy piece of art. This painting shows curvy lines in the river and straight slanted lines with the trees. Also the central emphasis is the bushes that immediately stick out in the painting. One thing that you can't see on first glance is the artist himself in the painting, you can also see his umbrella and set up for his painting station. The colors are very thick and dark greens on the left and then transfer to lighter shades of green on the right side.

Painting

This is a painting by Albert Pierstadt called "Among the Sierra Nevada, California". This is romantic art because it shows how nature is beautiful, in terms of animals, plants, and natural rock formations. The deer add a sort of calm nature to the painting because deer are very calm animals. The mountains add a sense of beauty because of the calm water around them.

Albert Bierstadt was a German painter in the 17th and early 18th century. He liked to paint things in western America. He was part of the Hudson River School then he grouped in the Rocky Mountain School.

The painting it self i believe is very well painted. Albert uses many different colors, like green, grey, dark blue, blue, and white in his painting. He also uses the element of reflection in the painting. The mountains and waterfalls are being reflected on the lake in the middle of the painting. The lines he uses in the mountain on the left make them look so majestic.

The main focus in the painting is the lake and the mountains because of the reflection the water makes of the mountains. Also because the artist placed them in the middle of the painting. There is a very good balance of nature with the massive mountains in the back, the lake in the middle, the big trees of the right, and the deer of the bottom of the painting. Everything in the painting comes together in unity.

Elijah in the Desert

This is a romantic painting called Elijah in the Desert by Washington Allston. In this painting, you the prophet Elijah going through a melancholy desert. The painting emphasizes on the desert itself, showing the dangerous nature of it with the broken tree and the gloomy clouds. It shows what Elijah had to go through to get past the desert, and that it was not going to be easy. This painting is very well done.
200451 Homecoming still life wine glass painting romantic art
This picture by Leanne Wildermuth is called Homecoming and shows a romantic dinner which is supposed to be with a soon to come home soldier from Iraq. The painting shows the classic romantic setting, wine and a candle. There are even rose pedals on the table for maximum romance. It brings all qualities of a romantic dinner to life in the dim scarlet lighting.

Romantic painting

This picture is painted brilliantly showing a dark and more gloomy side brightening up to the right of the painting. It also shows its reflection making it obvious that there must be a lake or pond below it. This painting is almost like death. After death you leave the cruel world and enter into a kingdom of eternal happiness.

This painting is called "Immigrants Crossing the Prairie," by Albert Bierstadt. It shows a landscape that of pilgrims moving westward across America. It was a time in America that is famous and it is the subject of many types of media and art. This sunset shows nature and people balanced together.

RomanticismArt

This painting is by Thomas Moran one of the best landscape artists around.
There is a person in this painting, walking in the walk way it looks likes hes going from
a dark place to a brighter destination. The picture both looks like a dark and bright picture as
you can see. I really like this portrait it is very wonderfully done, but there isn't that many
colors in it but it still looks very appealing.

Romantic Painting

This painting uses many different factors to enhance its Romanticism. The first and most noticeable factor are the two couples on the walkway and inside the restaurant. The second and less noticeable factor is the sky. The time of day affects the sky by having the sun in just the right position, also the clouds enhance the light from the sun rays expressing that it is happy. It also adds a careful mixture of a city and nature, with flowers on walls and on the bridge. I think the artist used this because nature expresses Romanticism. Finally the painting is not all happy, the restaurant to the left of the painting is not as happy as the rest, it is partly destroyed showing that gloom is a part of Romantic paintings.

Romanticism Art

This image is called View on the Stour near Dedham 1822 by John Constable. If I could describe this painting in 5 words, it would be peaceful, busy, working, majestic and naturalistic. The dimensions of this painting were not given in the website that I had gotten the picture from. In my opinion, I think this is more of a light romanticism painting. The reason I think this is because of the way the painting is seen. It doesn't look threatening to nature whatsoever, There is nothing that would make the painting see darker and nothing that would make it look dead or morbid. It just looks like a natural, nice-looking painting.

The Sierra by Albert Bierstadt

The title of this picture is called The Sierra and it was painted by the artist Albert Bierstadt. This painting has no people in it, but it does have a lot of wildlife in it. The bright colors are very interesting and it is a very tranquil setting. I think that the most interesting part of this painting is how the mountains draws your attention more than anything else

Romanticism Painting

This picture describes George Washington's crossing of the Deleware River to attack the Hessians on Christmas morning.

The name of the painting is called Washington Crossing the Delaware, 1851 by Emanuel Luetze. The dimensions of the picture are 149 inches x 255 inches. It steals all of the attention when you walk into the room in which it is kept.

Although this painting is a classic, it is somewhat unrealistic. as you can see, there is a plethora of ice blocks in the river. Historical accounts say that the river was clear. Also, in the background, you can see horses standing on their back legs, seemingly nervous. The boat would have overturned at the weight of a standing horse. Also, when they arrived, it was still night, here there is the dim light of morning. Despite these exaggerations, this painting is still in my opinion one of the most beautiful paintings ever created.

Romanticism

This painting was done by Susan Rios. It is called Cozy Living. She displays a bright romantic setting. She included bright and colorful background with flowers and sunlight. There are colorful and peaceful setting. It is very welcoming and relaxing.

Romanticism Art

The name of this painting is The Cornfield, painted by John Constable. This paint perfectly represents the characteristics of Romanticism Art. First of all, the background of this paint is beautiful nature, silent farm. Romanticist usually tried to draw awe of nature in their paints. Also, another characteristic, interest in the common men is drawn in the picture. Some men are leading the sheep to the cornfield and another man is resting on the grass field, which are very common scenes of farm. The painter of Romanticism tried to draw emotionally and sensibly with strong senses. This picture is also drawn peacefully

romantic paint.

this picture is by Thomas Kinkade.

Thomas Kinkade, the celebrated Painter of Light, is the most widely collected living artist in the world. His tranquil, light-infused paintings affirm the basic values of family, home, faith in God, and the luminous beauty of nature. He lives in Northern California.

Whether he is painting tranquil, small-town America, thatched cottages, flower-drenched gardens or bustling cities, Northern California painter Kinkade suffuses his canvases with a subtly ethereal light. This mysterious light is the unifying force in appealing pictures that reaffirm hope, beauty and a sense of life's possibilities.

Kinkade grew up in the small town of Placerville, California, graduated from high school in 1976, and attended the University of California, Berkeley and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. A key feature of Thomas Kinkade's paintings are their glowing highlights and saturated pastel colors. Rendered in a naturalistic American Scene Painting values, his works often portray bucolic, idyllic settings such as gardens, streams, stone cottages, and Main Streets. His hometown of Placerville is the setting of many of his street and snow scenes. He has also depicted various Christian themes including the Christian cross and churches.

Kinkade says he is placing emphasis on the value of simple pleasures and that his intent is to communicate inspirational, life-affirming messages through his work. A self-described "devout Christian", Kinkade has said he gains his inspiration from his religious beliefs and that his work is intended to contain a larger moral dimension. He has also said that his goal as an artist is to touch people of all faiths, to bring peace and joy into their lives through the images he This is a beautiful painting . Your eyes are attracted to darkness and in this painting their are dramatic colors and its a romantic. Your focus is directed to the top of the painting on the raining. In the middle you see the rain painting and the lights which is so beutifull. Then your focus is directed to the bottom of the painting. The bottom of the painting has dark colors and you see a massive cliff. This is a great painting and is extremely united. The painting Units the beauty of the romantic rain part. the colors are kind of dark blueish, and every background is pretty much with the dark color. Because this painting is a raining at night.
