NYPD

I don’t think there is such thing as witches today. Some people will say there are for attention but I do not think there are any witches. In the witch trials in Salem, a lot of people died for being witch. I don’t know why the man was being chased around for no reason. I think it is more of a racist issue if anything because it was an offense everything on a black person.

the murder in the rue morgue

the first part of the story, dupin follows his friend's minds and guessing what he is exactly thinking. i was very impressed by this logical power. i felt his profound knowledge of myths science and of course literature. and then the mystery solving parts it was very impressing too. two women (mother and daughter) were murdered brutally in their house in the rue morgue. however, the police have difficulties finding the murderer, due to special circumstances which is the locked room.
so dupin with his special brain solves the problem and finds the murderer.

the murder in the rue morgue

The room was on the fourth floor, and the door was locked - with the key on the inside. The windows were closed and fastened on the inside. The chimney was too narrow for a cat to get through. So how did the murderer escape? And whose were the two angry voices heard by the neighbours as they ran up the stairs? Nobody in Paris could find any answers to this mystery.
Except Auguste Dupin, who could see further and think more clearly than other people. The answers to the mystery were all there, but only a clever man could see them.
i really like this kind of story. i realize that not only human being can be a murder

Pit and the Pendulum

There are two trials. The first on is a pit and basically is a hole filled with darkness not letting the accused man know if he will die or not. The second trial is a pendulum, it is like a giant round ax swinging on top of him getting closer and closer. The pendulum was worse because you know your gonna die and when, The author uses the pendulum to his advantage because a pendulum will become more and more dangerous depending on how close it gets to you. "Upon my recovery, too, I felt very -- oh, inexpressibly sick and weak, as if though long inanition." I like this because I like the location it is in compassion to the story and i think it is very well written. Out of all the Edgar Allan Poe stories we read, i liked Tell Tale Heart better because it was most interesting to me.

Turning Point in Pompeii

In this book, the turning point is definitely when Atillius goes to Pliny and asks for the ships that will take him to Vesuvius to inspect the aqueduct. They all theorize together, and figure out where the place must be where the damage was caused. They plan the expedition and plan on leaving for Vesuvius in the morning.

Ny Times Article

I think comparing this article to the crucible is very easy. The cops are acting as Abigail and not understand or treating the man fairly. Also i think how they stopped the man three times is stupid. Just because they assumed he did something doesn't mean you can arrest him. They could have suspicions but just because he did some things that could have been related doesn't mean they can just assume.

Modern Day Witch Hunt?

I think that this man does have a point. He is making a hefty claim that the police were picking on him for no other reason than that he was an African American. I feel bad for the man and what really got me was when he said that he always wanted to be a police officer as a child. But when he grew up and became a man, he saw how the police abused their power and pulled him over and patted him down and searched him without a warrant, and for no other reason than probably because he is African American. It gave me a totally different outlook on the police after reading this article. It doesn't mean that every police man does this and is like this, but I still lost some respect, and I believe that the police should only search someone if they have an actual reason, not just because of somebody's race.
