The Murders in the Rue Morgue

The Murders in the Rue Morgue was written by Edgar Allen Poe in 1841. The general purpose of the story is to entertain and keep the reader on edge and trying to figure out the mystery. The narrative hook was " The mental features discoursed of as the analytical, are, themselves but little susceptible of analysis. We appreciate them only in their effects."
Acumen: Sharpness of insight.
Intuition: instinct, innate knowledge.
Retrograde: Having a backward motion or direction.
Susceptible: Vulnerable, unprotected.
Inordinately: Exceeding reasonable limits
I personally find the book mysterious and good because it keeps the reader on edge and continuing to read.
