Ms. Found in a Bottle

The narrator is burdened with being in a whirlpool after telling his captain not to sail (didn't listen). The narrator then finds himself on board of a ship that can't really see him so before this ship is in a tempest he decides to take the captains manuscript and put it in a bottle. This system of a message in a bottle is popular because that is the only a person is able to communicate when stranded someplace. My favorite quote is "However the captain said he could not perceive any reason of danger" because this is the crucial part in the short story where the captain risks his men's lives.
