The Fall of the house of Usher

The narrator in the story describes the house as almost sickly. He notices the house is in disrepair. Something that he cannot describe is that the house in an unknown way vexes him. The narrator and Usher spend their time playing music and telling stories, however his attempts to lighten the spirit of Usher were no use as he seemed to stay sick and depressed. Usher's s sister is like him, sick. She is mentally ill as well as physically ill, but her condition is unknown to the doctors treating her. However she dies and Usher and the narrator bury her in the tomb under the house. They hear sounds and believe that they buried the sister alive and she is trying to escape. She finally is able to emerge from the tomb and she kills her twin brother. After this the narrator flees as the house falls into the lake. My favorite quote from the story was "There was an iciness, a sinking, a sickening of the heart ."
